The Calla Lily
Break through the illusions of who we think we are and let us see who we truly are - getting to the core/golden centre of our being. There is an element of protection because once there are no more illusions, we no longer have to fear what others think.

Often called the white or common arum lily.

The white Calla Lily is generally accepted to mean "magnificent beauty,"  while also representing elegance, charm, grace and sophistication.
It has been said that the Calla Lily was the flower that the early Romans used to mark the passage of the winter solstice. They would plant the Calla Lily just inside the entrance to their homes, timing it to bloom for winter solstice.  The blooms had the effect of bringing light indoors during the darkest days of the year.

Lilies today are a symbol of both fertility and death, popularly used as a wedding flower, and also commonly placed on graves.  In this way, the Calla Lily symbolizes new beginnings while recognizing the "death" that must occur before re-growth can take place.
