EFT and The Work
When using EFT or The Work, have an open mind.

Just try it.

See what happens.
Byron Katie's The Work is a fabulous and efficient way to identify the issues that would provide the greatest benefit for you to tap on.  The "Judge Your Neighbour Worksheet" unearth's all the things that really 'get' to you, and you'll find as you go through the questions and get to the 'turnarounds' at the last step, that you have the real 'truths' that underlie your subconscious Belief System.

You can partner EFT and The Work in a number of ways:  Do the entirety of The Work, and then go back and tap for each statement on the worksheet as well as each of the four turnarounds for each statement.  Or once you've done the worksheet, tap for each of those statements and see if there are some that you no longer need to 'work' on with the questions.  Or, and I find that I do this often, when you are tapping for other things (ie, you haven't done the worksheet) add in one or all of Katie's questions as you talk through it.  For instance, if I'm tapping on the feeling of being nervous, it might go something like this:

I encourage you to use a Buddy System, and introduce these tools (EFT and The Work) to a friend or family member.  You don’t have to share everything about your process, but if you get to a point where you feel that you aren't getting anywhere on your own, the perspective (and sometimes just the energy or presence) of a "neutral bystander" is all that you need.

I am here for you as well.
The Work by Byron Katie is another gem that is effective yet simple, and available for free.

What is Byron Katie's "The Work"?

The first part of The Work is to identify your grievances, in what is called a "Judge your Neighbour" worksheet.  The body of The Work is simply a series of four questions.  You systematically go through your worksheet, applying the questions to each and every statement.

Unlike most 'teachers' who ask us as individuals to release our judgements of others, Katie shows us how to use these same judgements as windows, or doors, to what is really going on inside us on a subconscious level.  If you have ever heard the adage that the people in our lives are mirrors of ourselves, The Work shows the truth of how to learn and grow from that.

"Your life is a mirror of the dominant
    thoughts you think."  The Secret
I'm so nervous
I shouldn't do this
I don't want to do it
Is it true I don't want to do it?
It feels true
I feel too nervous to do it
Don't make me do it
Is it true that someone is making me do it?
Maybe I wish someone was making me do it
I've decided to do it
I'm the one making me do this
But part of me doesn't want to do it
part of me does want to, or I wouldn't have said yes
I'm mad at myself for having to do it
I'm mad at myself for being so nervous
who would I be if I wasn't so nervous
if I wasn't nervous, I'd do all kinds of things
I'd put myself out there in all kinds of ways
